Graduation Cap Decorating Guidelines 2025

4/24/2025

College Station Independent School District
Graduation Cap Decorating Guidelines 2025
The decoration of your graduation cap is not required, but if you choose to do so, you must adhere to certain standards that protect the solemnness of the occasion. The Administration reserves the right to disallow anything that is not considered appropriate for the commencement ceremony. Graduation caps will be reviewed upon arrival at Reed Arena. Failure to follow these rules will result in the removal of the cap. If you are unsure if your design is appropriate, see Mr. Rice for approval and guidance ahead of time.

Expectations:
  • Designs must not be inappropriate or the privilege will be taken away.
  • No objects such as lights, signs, stuffed animals, bells, flowers, or any 3D object may rest on the cap.
  • ALL decorations MUST lay FLAT on the cap.
  • Nothing can lay perpendicular thus allowing us to see the decoration beyond eye level.
  • Nothing can hang down from any side of the cap.
  • Your cap CAN NOT make noise.
  • No bells, horns, or anything that makes noise.
Must also be school appropriate and cannot include:
  • Political statements, affiliations, or divisive content
  • Offensive language, flags, derogatory names or statements
  • Contain any advertisement, symbols, abbreviations, initials, words, slogans, patches, or pictures that: refer to drugs or controlled substances, tobacco, alcohol, or weapons or be of a sexual nature.
  • Nicknames
  • Gang-related signs/slang
  • Boyfriend or girlfriend’s name
  • Alcohol, drugs, weapons, or be of sexual nature
  • Threaten the safety or welfare of any person
Suggested Cap Designs May Include:
  • Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, friend
  • Recognize your post-secondary plans (college, trade school, military)
  • Recognize your high school activities (ex. sports, clubs, co-curricular activities)
  • Your graduation year
  • Include an inspirational message
  • Leave it blank.  Decoration of your graduation cap is optional.

Students, we highly suggest you trace your cap onto cardboard and decorate the cardboard. In case you make a mistake, you can start over with a new piece of cardboard. We will not furnish new caps if you damage yours when decorating. You may purchase extras from Herff Jones. After you decorate it, stick it to your cap with double-sided tape or Velcro stickers.

AGAIN: YOUR CAP WILL BE CHECKED AT GRADUATION AND IF IT IS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE, YOU WILL BE MADE TO REMOVE IT.

Senior Exit Survey

4/16/2025

ALL SENIORS:  Complete the Senior Exit form.  This is very important so we know post gradation plans and where to send your final transcript.  After you graduate - you are the only person who can pick up transcripts UNLESS you add others to your list.  Please add mom, dad, brother, etc.  This is especially helpful if you are out of town!  Complete this today!

But that's not all! We are thrilled to announce Senior Fest, a spectacular event organized by the CSHS PTO and Student Council, exclusively for our graduating seniors. Scheduled for Monday, May 19th, Senior Fest promises to be a day filled with fun, prizes, and celebration as we honor the achievements of our seniors.
Senior Fest will kick off after the buses return the students from Senior Walk that morning at their respective elementary schools. This is a free event for our seniors.
Here's what your seniors can expect at Senior Fest:
  • Free T-Shirt: The first 300 seniors to arrive will receive a complimentary Senior Fest t-shirt.
  • Scholarship Drawing: Every senior in attendance will be entered into a scholarship drawing, including a $1000 scholarship in honor of our first principal, Mike Martindale and former CSISD Superintendent, as well as several other scholarships. No application required!
  • Free Lunch and Snack Bar: Delicious food and refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
  • Games: A variety of games and activities will be available for seniors to enjoy with their friends.
  • Prize Raffles: We will host free prize raffles featuring college-ready items such as a laptop, mini fridge, Apple AirPods, gift cards, and more!
To make Senior Fest truly special, we are seeking volunteers to help with various tasks leading up to and during the event. If you're interested in helping to plan the event or volunteering the day of the event, please click here.
Additionally, we are seeking donations in the form of money and prizes. Your contributions will go a long way in ensuring that our seniors have an unforgettable experience as they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their lives.
If you would like to be a sponsor for Senior Fest or have an item to donate click here. Or if you want to make a quick one-time payment you can do that here (type “Senior Fest” in the special instructions box). Your support is greatly appreciated and will help make Senior Fest a resounding success.
